Admission Requirements

What are the GPA and class ranking requirements for admission?

There is not a “cut-off” for GPA or ranking for our graduate programs. Most of our successful applicants have outstanding academic credentials from elite universities.

What are the degree requirements for the LLCM?

What are the degree requirements for the SJD?

SJD applicants must have an LLM, JD, or equivalent law degree from Penn Carey Law or a comparable institution. Learn about SJD application prerequisites. 

Is professional experience required?

No. We do accept some exceptional students directly from law school.

Can I apply if I am a current law student?

Yes. Current law students are welcome to apply if they will receive their degree prior to matriculation.

What is the minimum TOEFL/IELTS score required?

Do I need to take the LSAT or GRE?

No. You do not need to submit a score from the LSAT or GRE exam. However, if you wish to submit scores, you may.

Can I apply to the LLM program if I have an US JD?

Yes. Applicants to the LLM program whose first law degree was earned inside the United States may apply, if they:

  • Demonstrate a level of academic achievement comparable to that of applicants accepted into Penn Carey Law’s JD program;
  • Set forth in their application why they wish to attend a program of study designed for lawyers trained outside of the United States.

Do you accept transfer students into Graduate Programs?

No. Penn Carey Law does not accept transfer students into any of its graduate programs.
