News from some of our newest LLM alumnae! Established in 2012, Penn Law's new LLM Rule of Law and Human Rights Fellowship supports recent LLM graduates interested in pursuing public interest work around the world. The past two winners have been proud Penn Law alumnae.

They are:

Mariela Noles Cotito GL'12

As our inaugural LLM Rule of Law and Human Rights Fellow, Noles Cotito was appointed to the United Nations Office of the Baha'i International Community in New York, where she advocated for religious minorities, women's rights, and sustainable development.

Following the recent completion of her one-year fellowship, she accepted a position as an International Human Rights and Minority Groups Specialist in her native Peru. She is now working in the Peruvian Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, within the General Division of Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination.

Chochav Elkayam-Levy GL'13

Elkyama-Levy is a member of our newest graduating class, graduating with distinction from the LLM program this past May. She is our second annual awardee of the LLM Rule of Law and Human Rights Fellowship, and she will be using the fellowship to support work in her native Israel and the U.S. on behalf of victims of human trafficking.

She'll be working as a visiting researcher with AEquitas: The Prosecutors' Resource on Violence Against Women, a nonprofit project of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape. In this role, she will develop an anti-trafficking collaboration between government agencies and civil society organizations in the U.S. and also in Israel, where she is setting out to establish an Institute on the Prosecution of Human Trafficking that will provide training for officials involved in prosecuting human trafficking crimes.

Congratulations, Mariela and Chochav!

Panelist Opportunity (Friday, October 25 – Penn Campus)

Led by Penn's Graduate School of Education (GSE), Penn's graduate and professional schools are jointly organizing an event for all female students of Penn's graduate and professional schools, to be held at Penn's International House from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday, October 25.

Penn GSE alumna Dr. Rosina Racioppi (http://www.women-unlimited.com/about/team_detail.php?TeamID=8), President and CEO of WOMEN Unlimited, Inc., will be leading/moderating a panel of Penn alumnae from our various professional schools, as they discuss topics such as: developing women as leaders, negotiating and navigating compensation talks, dealing with discrimination in the workplace, balancing family needs, and more. We'd like to have a representative from Penn Law join the panel as well. If you or another alumna you know would be available and interested in speaking at this event, please email me directly at cefulton@law.upenn.edu.
