Havey L'97: The Pennsylvania
Senate recently confirmed Governor Tom Corbett's nomination of Preate
Havey (currently Counsel at Dilworth Paxson LLP) to the Pennsylvania
Economic Development Financing Authority (PEDFA) Board. Click here for

the Board's mission.
B.B. Liu L'08: Liu, currently a Staff Attorney at the Children's Law
Center in New York, is this year's recipient of the Doris S. Hoffman
Outstanding New Lawyer Award. This award is presented by the Women's
Bar Association of the State of New York to a young attorney who has
been a member of the bar for less than five years and has made
outstanding achievements within the profession, outstanding
contributions within the WBASNY member's community, or both.

Jamshidi L'07, Maria Pabon Lopez L'89, and Corey Sdhaimah GL'98: The
above-named alumnae have been selected to showcase their recently
published works at this year's Penn Law Alumni Author Book Signing on
May 17th at 12pm.
Jamshidi, a Senior Associate in the DC office of Miller Chevalier and
founder of Muftah.org, a digital magazine focusing on issues
affecting countries in the Middle East and North Africa, will feature The Future of the
Arab Spring: Civic Entrepreneurship in Politics, Art, and Technology
Startups.
Pabon Lopez, currently Dean and Judge Adrian G. Duplantier
Distinguished Professor of Law at Loyola University New Orleans
College of Law, will feature Persistent
Inequality: Contemporary Realities in the Education of Undocumented
Latina/o Student.
And Sdhaimah, Associate Professor and Academic Coordinator for the
MSW/JD Dual Degree Program at the University of Maryland, will
feature Negotiating
Justice: Progressive Lawyering, Low-Income Clients, and the Quest for
Social Change.

the Law, and her daughter Dempsey address the four major obstacles
