Planning your return to the office? We put together this list of helpful tips to make the return to campus a breeze!

1. Label those cables! Before breaking down your workstation at home, be sure to label both ends of each cable with masking tape or old bread tags. This will help you make sure that you can quickly and easily configure your workstation once you get it back into the office.

  • Use descriptive language on the labels like “back of dock” or “back of display”

  • When unplugging cables, try to avoid simply yanking them out of the socket as this can damage equipment or cause two-part cables (like the power adapters for your dock) to become unplugged.

2. Use a blanket or bubble wrap to protect fragile equipment (like your monitor) in transit.

  • This will help avoid any damage from a bumpy car or train ride.

  • if you’re connecting to an incorrect network by default, try “Forgetting” any/all of the incorrect networks

  • After forgetting any erroneous networks, you can connect to AirPennNet following these instructions.

4. Make sure that you’ve added the new printing system. If you haven’t done this since November, you’ll need to follow the instructions here. (which include changing your PennKey password).

  • With the new changes, all staff and faculty should have access to any of the networked printers in the building. You can also print to any of the public student printers in the building by following the instructions to add the student printing queues here: Student Printing
