The Journal of Law and Social Change takes interdisciplinary, scholarly approach to challenge social injustice

The Journal of Law and Social Change (JLASC) is one of the Law School’s seven student journals, which provide members an invaluable experience in substantive law as well as skills in research, analysis, and expression. JLASC is unique among the journals both in mission and its democratic article selection process, which occurs through a weekly seminar in which all members review, select, and edit pieces for publication.

The journal’s broad mission attracts articles from a diverse range of legal scholars, practitioners and activists around the country. JLASC embraces theory and practice, featuring interdisciplinary scholarship that has practical implications both within and beyond the legal community.

Recent articles include “Disparate Health Care in Puerto Rico: A Battle Beyond Statehood” by Ximena Benavides and “Altering Gender Markers on Government Identity Documents: Unpredictable, Burdensome, and Oppressive” by Megan Brodie Maier. “State Constitutions and Progressive Crimmigration Reform” by Valerie L. Snow L’20 was also recently published as a comment.

JLASC also operates an Online Journal and Blog as a space for community change agents to highlight and share their work within various communities. The blog seeks to provide a platform for a wide variety of social service-oriented, shorter form scholarship.
