Staff Spotlight: Matti Mejia

February 19, 2021

With more of us working and learning from home and more patrons engaging with the library through virtual services and online resources, we are starting a monthly Biddle staff spotlight series to get to know the people behind the library.

The Essential Questions

What is your role and how long have you been working at Biddle?

Administrative Coordinator, a little over a year.

What had helped you adjust to working from home?

Getting a kitten.

What book/s are you reading right now?

A Bridge Called My Back: Writing by Radical Women of Color

Lightning Round

Cats or dogs? There’s plenty of room in my heart for both!
Fiction or non-fiction? Fiction
Comedy or horror? Comedy (it’s too hard to keep up with horror plots from the other room)
Sweet or Savory? Savory (my life would have no sparkle without cheese)
Coffee or tea? Coffee, espresso shots only, please!

Wildcard Qs

Where in the law school would the Penn Law community most likely find you hanging out?

In the library copy room!

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

Ever since watching the X-Men: Evolution animated series, I wanted to have Rogue’s powers, which were the ability to absorb the abilities of anyone she touches. As for why, I love having endless possibility!

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would love to have a jam sesh with Prince!

What is your favorite reference question or most memorable library experience?

This is more general, but it happens every time I step in a library. I am simultaneously struck by how still yet full of potential it is - it’s quite peaceful and humbling.

What are your passions outside of work?

Free-handing designs on t-shirts!
