More and more apps are becoming available to legal professionals seeking to keep current with research trends and news.  Some apps connect you with particular research databases while others offer headlines in particular areas of law.  There’s a lot to explore!

The WestlawNext app features access to WestSearch, KeyCite, your search history, and more.  You can add notes and highlight to your documents, and then save them for reading offline.  The app syncs across all WestlawNext platforms, so you can pick up where you left off on another computer or device.  The app is free, but a WestlawNext account is required.  For iPad and Android only.

HeinOnline allows you to view the Hein legal research database.  Image-based PDFs may be accessed by citation retrieval, browsing, or search (basic and advanced search are available).  The app is free, but a HeinOnline account is required.  Log in with your library account to get access.  Visit HeinOnline for more information about how to log in.  For iOS only.

docket.jpgDocket in Your Pocket – Pennsylvania provides access to weekly updates of Pennsylvania court records.  The app provides access to criminal and some civil court records.  The database includes information from January 1, 2000, to the present.  Don’t forget to check out the User Guide and Disclaimers section!  Available for iOS and Android, $3.99.
