The Hon. Julia Gillard, the former Prime Minister of Australia, has appointed Rangita de Silva de Alwis to serve on the Steering Group for the Global Gender and Leadership Index at King’s College, London.

Hon. Julia  Gillard is  a lawyer  and the first woman head of state in  Australia.  Together with her friends,  Sec. Hillary Clinton, and Sec.  Albright, the Hon. Julia Gillard  has led the global advocacy on  women’s leadership. In April 2018,  she launched the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership (GIWL) at King’s College London with the vision to help create a world in which being a woman is not a barrier to becoming a leader in any field, nor a factor leading to negative perceptions of an individual’s leadership .

The aim of the Global Gender and Leadership Index ( CGLI) is to provide a comprehensive global measure of women’s representation in leadership positions across three key domains: economic, political and social decision-making positions. In doing so it will fill critical data gaps, drive forward advocacy, and provide resources for researchers and policymakers.  As part of the  mission to achieve this goal, the Index  will raise public debate and international competition concerning the representation of women in leadership positions across sectors globally, support advocacy and drive change.

To ensure that the GGLI is as rigorous and effective as possible the Expert Steering Group who represent experts in the field will provide guidance on conceptual framing, methodology and policy expertise.
