Update On COVID19 And Penn’s Response

March 16, 2020

Dear Alumni,

The rapidly changing situation concerning Coronavirus (COVID-19) has meant many adjustments to life around the world and is impacting all of us. I hope this finds you as well as can be in these unprecedented circumstances. As we adapt to the situation at the Law School, we understand that as alumni, you may have questions and concerns about the steps we are taking to assure the safety of members of our community while we continue to teach classes virtually, as well as the status of campus events.

Please be assured that our utmost priority is the well-being of our students, faculty, and staff and the broader public and we are taking this very seriously and following all University’s protocols.

Some of these measures include:

  • Depopulating the campus for the remainder of the semester
  • Cancelling or postponing all in-person events
  • Transitioning to virtual teaching for our entire curriculum
  • Closing all Penn libraries
  • Implementing remote work for faculty and staff whose presence is not essential
  • Eliminating University-related travel, including all incoming visitors

As the situation progresses, we will continue to monitor the most current information to insure we are doing everything we can to protect the safety and well-being of the Law School’s students, faculty, staff, and the community.

For now, we are focused on providing an excellent, virtual legal education and thinking of new and innovative ways to train the next generation of lawyers. As you manage your personal and professional lives during this challenging time, we are here for you, and we will soon be in touch about a range of online programming and virtual lectures and meetings for Law School alumni. If you would like our help in connecting (virtually) with other alumni, please send an email to alumni@law.upenn.edu.

We believe in the strength and resilience of our community and are grateful for the support that we have and will continue to receive from all of you. Stay safe and healthy and look out for each other.

Sincerely,

Ted
