Lauren Davis L’21

Lauren was inspired to go to law school after learning how difficult it is for immigrants to access vital lifesaving benefits. While working as a paralegal in the Public Benefits Unit of Community Legal Services (CLS), Lauren saw how complex bureaucracies and laws can negatively impact some of the most vulnerable citizens of the Philadelphia community. Prior to joining the Public Benefits Unit, she worked in CLS’s Administration Department, where she supported the Deputy Director of Operations and was a founding member of CLS’s first Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Lauren is a native of the Philadelphia suburbs and a graduate of Drexel University. While at Drexel, she obtained a B.A. in International Area Studies, with a concentration in Justice & Human Rights and a regional focus in the Middle East, along with a minor in Political Science. As an undergraduate student, Lauren spent her time interning for the Get Healthy Philly Project, The Americas: A Latin America Research Journal, and the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection of Philadelphia.

At Penn Law, she is Managing Editor for the Journal of Law and Social Change, and a member of the National Lawyers Guild, the Black Law Students Association, and the Walk-in Legal Assistance Clinic.

In her free time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her friends and family, the performing arts, reading novels, cooking, and yoga practice.
