Ebenezer Gyasi L’19

Ebenezer currently works as a Judge Advocate in the United States Navy on his first tour rotation in San Diego, California. Prior to commissioning in the JAG corps, Ebenezer interned at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey in his hometown, Newark, NJ. Additionally, he interned as a law clerk during his 3L spring for the United States Senate’s Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee’s permanent subcommittee on investigations. During law school, Ebenezer was active in and on the boards of various student organizations, including Christian Legal, American Constitution Society, Federalist Society, and Council on Student Representatives. He found all of those groups to be worthwhile and a true testament to the dynamism and vibrancy present in the Penn Law community. His pro bono commitments included working with the Youth Education Project teaching Constitutional law to seniors at Overbrook High School in West Philadelphia, Veterans Legal Clinic, and Penn Law for the Homeless. Before law school, Ebenezer taught 6th and 7th grade math in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with Teach For America. It was there that his passion for working on behalf of and empowering underserved communities to combat structural inequities was cemented. Ebenezer is happy to talk with Penn Law students about any questions, comments, and thoughts they may have about careers in public interest and beyond.
