Chelsea Edwards L’15

Chelsea is currently a Staff Attorney at Justice at Work, a civil legal aid organization that serves low-income immigrant workers throughout Pennsylvania. Much of her work is dedicated to representing workers who have experienced sexual assault in the workplace or labor trafficking through temporary guest worker visa programs. Through her work, Chelsea has engaged in civil litigation at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as represented clients in immigration matters. She has also helped to build Justice at Work’s Promotora program, based on a community health worker model, which equips women leaders to share legal information with their own communities. Prior to joining Justice at Work, Chelsea clerked for the Honorable Gerald A. McHugh in the U.S District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and for the Honorable Cheryl A. Krause in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. While at Penn, Chelsea researched health and human rights issues as a legal intern with Human Rights Watch, and she provided direct legal services to immigrants through work with the Nationalities Service Center, Friends of Farmworkers, Christian Legal Clinics of Philadelphia, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, and Penn’s own chapter of the International Refugee Assistance Project. She holds a J.D. and Graduate Certificate in Human Rights from Penn Law, a B.A. from Emory University in Journalism and International Studies, and she previously worked in HIV prevention and case management in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.
