Emily Turner L’15

In the ten years since graduating summa cum laude from Bryn Mawr College, Emily has worked extensively for both women’s rights and immigrant rights.  Her experiences include coordinating a meeting of international experts to draft a set of safe abortion care standards adopted by the World Health Organization, co-authoring an innovative presentation linking reproductive rights to the broader social justice movement, and serving as executive director of a small Latino community center in rural Appalachia.  Emily sees the law as a thread that winds its way through the fight for social justice.  Her recognition of its power to navigate and influence multiple movements led her to Penn Law. Emily currently serves on the board of the Civil Rights Law Project and as an Associate Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. She is particularly interested in appellate litigation and the intersectionality of race, gender and class issues.
