Colin Dobell L’22

Colin is an aspiring environmental lawyer with a particular interest in environmental justice and how climate change will adversely affect communities already pushed to the margins.

Colin received a B.S. in Engineering Physics from Fordham University. After completing their undergraduate degree, Colin worked in climate change resilience and disaster recovery in communities affected by Hurricane Sandy in south Brooklyn and Queens. They chose to come to law school so they could more proactively address climate change and other environmental issues. They are also pursuing a Certificate in Environmental Policy from the environmental studies program.

Colin is the chair of Penn Law’s Environmental Law Project and is on the boards of Trans Empowerment and Advocacy, If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice, and Equal Justice Foundation. Colin has worked with Clean Air Council, a Philadelphia based public interest organization focusing on environmental litigation and policy, as a legal intern. They spent their 1L summer at the Sierra Club, where most of their time was spent on litigation towards the goal of energy grid decarbonization.
