Jordan Konell L’22

Jordan is a 2L committed to pursuing a career in public service in Philadelphia that emphasizes economic justice and labor rights. At Penn, he serves as Chair of the Democracy Law Project’s Community Organizing Project, and is involved with the Employment Advocacy Project, the National Lawyers Guild, and Penn Law for Philly.

Jordan previously worked as Legislative Aide to City Councilmember (At Large) Helen Gym, where he focused on labor, housing, juvenile justice, and education policy. Born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia, Jordan is a graduate of Yale College, and he holds both an MSc in Criminal Justice and an M.Ed from the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. His graduate-level research focused on racialized policing in the UK and political movements to bring ethnic studies to schools across the globe. Jordan was additionally awarded the 2017 Howard League Sunley Prize for Best Dissertation on Penal Reform in the United Kingdom. He is a proud graduate of Philadelphia’s Central High School, and currently serves on the Board of the Associated Alumni of Central High School.

During his 1L Summer, Jordan developed housing and workers’ rights legislation for Philadelphia City Council, and was a Law Clerk at Willig, Williams & Davidson, a union-side labor law firm.
