Zachary Malter L’22

A New York native, Zachary graduated from Wesleyan University where he majored in the College of Social Studies and served as Student Body President. 

Since graduating, Zachary has worked as a high school English teacher in Miami, Florida, an education policy professional, and a Regional Organizing Manager and Deputy State Director for MoveOn.org. While teaching, Zachary worked to bring social justice programming to his students and helped direct an anti-prejudice youth leadership program.

At MoveOn, Zachary oversaw the organization’s field campaigning efforts for Miami-Dade County in 2016 and for the Northeast region in 2018, helping people mobilize for a more inclusive and progressive future. Before law school, he also conducted policy research on education justice issues, managed a successful school board campaign, and developed restorative justice advocacy campaigns in New York City.

At Penn Law, Zachary is a 1L representative for the National Lawyers Guild (NLG), a member of the Tenant Power Project and the Prison Abolitionist Reading Group, a 1L representative for Lambda, and a CASAC advocate at Philadelphia Legal Assistance.

In his free time, Zach enjoys walking, biking, karaoke, and eating his way through Philadelphia.
