Nick Hall L’18

Nick currently works as a first-year Honors Attorney at the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington D.C. As an Honors Attorney, Nick’s practice spans across a myriad of divisions within the Solicitor’s Office, including the Fair Labor Standards Division, Civil Rights Labor Management Division, Plan Benefits Safety Division, and regional trial offices. Upon completion of the two-year Honors Program, Nick will select one division for long-term placement.

Prior to joining the Department of Labor, Nick clerked for the Honorable Robin M. Meriweather, a Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia. Although Nick initially went to law school to practice as a criminal trial attorney, he developed an interest for worker’s rights after taking Employment Discrimination with Professor Serena Mayeri. Paired with his prior experience as a human capital management consultant, Nick discovered a passion for understanding management structures, remedying workplace inequities, and advocating for safe, healthy, and inclusive workplaces.

Nick loved being active at Penn. He served as President of the Black Law Student Association (BLSA), Managing Editor of the Journal of Constitutional Law, a member of Penn Law’s Inn of Court, and as a Graduate Associate for New College House. Nick remains active at Penn Law and volunteers on the Penn Law Generation of the Last Decade (GOLD) Alumni Board. As a recent transplant to Old Town Alexandria, Nick loves meeting his neighbors and working with Volunteer Alexandria, most frequently in Alexandria’s public schools and food banks.
