Reid Cater L’13

Reid is currently a policy specialist at the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI). In this position, he works to improve criminal justice systems across the country through the use of evidence-based policies to lower incarceration and recidivism rates. At Penn, Reid was active with Homeless Advocates and the Prisoner Education Project. He also participated in the criminal defense clinic. Before working at CJI, Reid spent over six years as a post-conviction attorney at North Carolina Prisoner Legal Services where he represented people incarcerated in North Carolina prisons. In this position he litigated post-conviction cases from the district court level up to the North Carolina Supreme Court.
