Anna Deknatel L’14

In the six years between graduating from Harvard University and starting at Penn Law, Anna worked in local politics in New York. As a political communications consultant for three years, she supported the work of advocates around the country, including legal service organizations and legislative campaigns. She created and implemented press strategies on a broad variety of housing and employment issues, as well as other areas of municipal and poverty policy. Immediately after graduating from college, Anna also taught history to high school students.

Anna seeks to focus her legal career on representing low-income people facing housing and consumer crises, such as foreclosure, eviction, or debt collection. At Penn Law, Anna has acted as the co-director of the Penn Law Advocates for the Homeless and co-founded the Consumer Rights Project. She has interned at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the National Consumer Law Center, Community Legal Services, and the Legal Aid Society. She is the Co-Editor in Chief of Penn Law’s Journal of Law and Social Change.
