Most rewarding pro bono experience

Assisting with research for the International Human Rights Advocates (IHRA) and their work against unjust deportations of Haitians from the United States was a meaningful experience. It taught me the power and urgency of using the law to build a case for somebody whose life and family literally depended on our work. I was able to substantively develop my international legal and policy research capabilities, which I wouldn’t have learned anywhere else as a 1L or even as a 2L now. Being a part of IHRA powerfully reminds me just how much injustice and inequality remains for so many communities all over the world. And that we can and must use whatever resources we have as privileged Penn students— which is so unbelievably much, thanks to TPIC and our administration— to help.
