The Center for Technology, Innovation and Competition (CTIC) is embarking on a new initiative to gather empirical data on new approaches to helping the more than 3 billion of the world’s 7 billion citizens connect to the Internet. As part of a new Dynamic Coalition established under the UN-sponsored Internet Governance Forum, CTIC plans to gather data on supply-side and demand-side initiatives to increase Interne adoption. CTIC has established partnerships with NGOs, companies and governments around the world interested in supporting this effort. India will be an area of particular focus. The supporters of the project include the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and LIRNEasia (based in Sri Lanka). We have also begun the process of bringing on-board a recent graduate of Bangalore National Law School with a background in electrical engineering to help us with the research. We expect to participate in events in India in the fall.

Intel has already become a valued partner of CTIC. Intel is a supporter of the initiative on Connecting the Unconnected.  Intel is also a partner in the NSF grant on privacy and security for cyber-physical systems in which CTIC staff are serving as co-principal investigators.
