Ana G. Jarquin L’21

Ana is a third year dual-degree candidate at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, where she is pursuing a M.S.Ed. in Education Policy.

Ana’s professional and academic journey has been informed by her passion for expanding educational access in underserved communities. Prior to law school, she spent six years working in education as a classroom teacher and instructional coach for new educators in Newark, New Jersey. During this time, she co-founded a Culturally Responsive Pedagogy Fellowship for educators in Northern New Jersey wanting to expand their practice to foster an inclusive and affirming environment for children in high-needs schools.

While completing her graduate school programs, Ana has interned at the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division Educational Opportunities Section. Ana has served as co-president of the Latinx Law Student Association, she is a founding member of Penn Law’s Office of Inclusion and Engagement Student Advisory Board, and a senior editor of the Journal of Law and Social Change.

Ana is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Texas Tech University, where she majored in Political Science and Spanish. After graduation, Ana is committed to pursuing a career as a civil rights and education law attorney.
