Lucas Slevin L’22

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Lucas earned a B.A. in Government from Georgetown University. Lucas began his legal career as an intern for the Honorable Denny Chin of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, followed by a summer interning for renowned whistleblower firm Kohn, Kohn, & Colapinto. As an undergraduate student at Georgetown, Lucas helped launch the Georgetown University Prisons and Justice Initiative to foster anti-carceral projects such as educational programming for incarcerated students, re-entry, and job assistance programs for returning citizens, and assistance in wrongful conviction litigation. Upon graduation, Lucas worked as an organizer for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, and then as an AmeriCorps service member at Impact Alabama. He then spent two years employed in Arlington, Virginia as a courtroom clerk for the Arlington County Circuit Court. Lucas hopes to use his degree to help fight for social justice movements, particularly anti-prison projects.

At Penn Law, Lucas spends his time volunteering for the Pro Bono Criminal Record Expungement Program and the Prison Abolition Working Group. He is a member of Penn’s National Lawyers Guild, Penn Law Service Corps, Student Public Interest Network, and Law Students for a Democratic Society. In his free time, he enjoys seeing live music, riding his bike, and scrolling through Twitter.
