Siri Carlson L’16

Siri received her B.A. in English from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, in 2009.  After graduating, she joined the L’Arche Tahoma Hope community in Tacoma, Washington.  L’Arche is an international federation of communities centered on the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities.  After serving as an AmeriCorp member and live-in assistant in one of the homes for a year, Siri spent the next 2 ½ years as the Recreation and Day Support Assistant, helping members of the Tahoma Hope Community discover and access meaningful activities.  

In her first year at Penn Law, Siri interned with the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations as a member of the Civil Rights Law Project (CRLP).  During her 1L summer, Siri worked as a certified student attorney with the Ramsey County Public Defender’s Office in her home state of Minnesota and represented clients in their initial court appearances for criminal and probation violation charges. As 2L, Siri continued work with CRLP as its Research Director. She externed with Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project in Philadelphia and spent her 2L summer as a certified student intern in Palmer, Alaska, representing misdemeanor clients with the Alaska Public Defender Agency. She is pursuing an interdisciplinary certificate in Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience through the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Neuroscience and Society. Siri serves as the Research and Philanthropy Editor on the board of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.
