University of Pennsylvania Journal of Business Law publishes cutting-edge scholarship on wide range of business law issues

As one of the Law School’s seven student journals, the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Business Law publishes articles and comments on a broad range of business law topics, including corporate governance, securities regulation, capital market regulation, employment law, and the law of mergers and acquisitions.

It is one of the most cited business law journals in the country, having been cited by the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the highest courts of both Delaware and Maine. Additionally, the Journal has been cited in countless briefs in some of the most impactful business law cases before the U.S. Supreme Court in the last 15 years.

All of the Law School’s student journals provide members an invaluable experience in substantive law as well as skills in research, analysis, and expression. For those especially interested in business-related legal topics, the Journal of Business Law can provide an in-depth look at some of the most pressing issues facing society today.

Founded in 1997, the Journal is an expansion of the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Business and Employment Law and publishes four standard issues per year. Recent articles include “Are ETFs Making Some Asset Managers Too Interconnected to Fail? ” by Ryan Clements, Assistant Professor, Chair in Business Law and Regulation at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law and Terra Incognita: Applying the Entire Fairness Standard of Review to Benefit Corporations” by Brent J. Horton, Associate Professor of Law & Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility Fellow, Fordham University Gabelli School of Business.

The Journal also holds a symposium; two recent focuses were harmonizing business law in the U.S. as well as across national borders and the influence of blockchain technology on business.
