Research Guides: Your First Step for Better Research

February 06, 2013

Written by Jenn Huck, Systems & Emerging Technologies Librarian

Have you ever found yourself looking for a basic introduction when researching a new area? Look no further than Biddle Law Library’s Research Guides.  You can find a list of guides for several topics, including Legal Research Basics, Foreign and International Law, and Intellectual Property.   Most of the guides are directed at helping people work through the legal research process, but several other guides have “tips and tricks” for using e-resources, technology, and the library.

We recently updated our research guides to make them more web-friendly.  Most of our guides can now be found within the LibGuides platform, which will take you away from the Penn Law website.   Here, you will find introductory materials and a general overview about the area of research.

A few tips about working with LibGuides:

  • If you ever have questions related to the research guide, you can contact that librarian indicated in the Author box on the left for more information.
  • You can search within and across guides, as well as search Biddle’s catalog, through the search box at the top.
  • You can sign up for RSS feeds for a specific guide to see when it gets updated.
  • You can print the entire guide by clicking “Print Guide” at the top, or only print the page you are on by clicking “Print page” underneath the horizontal navigation bar.
  • LibGuides are mobile friendly.

We are always working on creating more guides.  If you have an idea for a guide, please feel free to suggest your guide idea in the Ask a Librarian email form and we will get back to you.
