Claudia C. Johnson has been an innovator for 22 years, starting the lawyer of the day project in eviction court in San Francisco (2000s), the Language Access Project at CLS, Philadelphia (1999). Claudia was part of the drafting group for the LEP Court Standards approved passed by ABA, now implemented across all state courts. Claudia served on the working group that released the Best Practices on E-filing for SRLs published by LSC. Claudia reviews articles for the NCSC Future Trends in State Courts Journal. She is a member of the Washington State Access to Justice Commission Technology group, and guest blogged with Richard Zorza.

In May 2019 the Washington State Access to Justice Commission awarded her the #promoterofjustice Award. She has made the use of online forms for those without lawyers and by legal aid attorneys and pro bono lawyers a cornerstone of the Access to Justice movement.

She works at Pro Bono Net, a technology non-profit that brings the power of law to all by building cutting edge online tools and creates communities of innovation. Her work on the national recognized lawhelpinteractive.org  online form platform and best practices engine, was highlighted by the NY Times multiple times:. Claudia is a 2018 fastcase50 and as one of LTRC’s Women of Legal Tech 2018. Claudia sits on the Toll Public Interest Center Board of Advisers at Penn Law, the ATJ Tech Fellows Board of Advisers, and the Board of Advisors for the Penn Law Future of the Profession Initiative.

Claudia started her legal career as a Skadden Fellow in Philadelphia. She holds three degrees from UC Berkeley, including an MPP from the Goldman School of Public Policy and her law degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School. She is an immigrant and resides in Eastern Washington State and part of the year in Columbia MD.
